Some NFSW Forumers Offering Solutions to Avoid Cheats in game. ( Courtesy EnjerCoyote )
As we all know cheaters have always been an huge problem for this game, but never like in those days, as the implementation of the achievement system gave them even a reason to cheat...nowadays almost every lobby is full of autofinishers and speedhackers, and sometimes it could take hours just to make a single clean race, so I thought it may be appropriate to write this guide providing tips about how to detect them from the lobby and how to report them. I made this guide on the Italian forum I am a member of and I received very good feedbacks, I hope some of you will find it useful too
Here we go :
Block them all !
Every time you meet a cheater it's highly recommended that you block him ; this won't prevent you from finding again that cheater in the future, but if you right-click on every driver's name while you are in the lobby you will be able to see if some of the drivers you are about to race with are already blocked, if so there will only be the "unblock driver" and "report driver" option when you right click on a blocked driver
Report them all !
Other than blocking them, it's worth to spend a minute for reporting cheaters using the formula Ea gave us a long time ago in order to provide the highest possible number of information.
An effective report should contain:
-Kind of hack
-Name of the track
-Date ( year - month - day )
-Shard
-Time ( in-game time recommended)
Here is an example of a report:
Autofinish - Rosewood & Lyons - 2013/05/08 - Apex EU - 12:34 in-game time
Watch out for players with 0 Durability
If a player has a car with 0 durability there is an high chance that he's an autofinisher, as autofinishers won't care of repairing their cars as they don't drive their car at all.
This point does not apply in some class restricted races as many players make their cars reach 0 durability in order to be able to take part at lower class races without needing to sell the performance parts installed, for example a guy could make his C class Scirocco reach 0 durability in order to be able to take part at an E class race
Check out opponents' achievement badges and driver points
If an opponent has achievements like "win 125 races in class X", and expecially if he has more than 1 achievement of this kind, there are high possibilities that he's a cheater.
Other achievements mostly shown by cheaters are 5-Stars "Payday" and "4-5 Stars World Racer"
Anyway this point is going to progressively lose validity as sooner or later even honest players will manage to complete this kind of achievements, but nowadays the % of honest players having those achievements and / or an high driver score is still very low
Keep always the Event Chat open
The Event Chat may be very useful for detecting cheaters as other players often use it to warn opponents of the presence of a cheater, and you are recommended do to so too, but only if you are 100% sure that the person you are going to flag as a cheater is actually a cheater
Watch out for players driving very weak cars
If a player in the lobby has a very weak car, and expecially if his car is almost stock and has no skill mods installed or only the skill mods which increase the cash reward form races, he may be a cheater. In particular pay attention to Lexs Lfa and Mustang Boss '12 as they are the most used cars by cheaters.
This point does not apply on low level players, as they could be driving weak cars without knowing it due to their limited game experience
How to detect Car Changer
Right before entering the lobby set the "far-behind" camera, so that when the countdown goes to 0:00 by pressing ALT+Z you will be able to see the opponents' cars while they are loading on the track : as soon as they appear they will be completely black and without details such as vinyls and some textures, and after 1-2 seconds they will assume their real aspect: if the "black" car you've seen for that 1-2 seconds is the same as the car the opponent will actually drive in the race no problem, but if the black car is a different one there is no doubt, you are facing a cheater, and the car he is actually driving is not the one you see during the race but the one you saw during the loading.
Avoid Class Restricted races
Class Restricted events are the only ones counting for the "X class Champion" achievements, so cheaters al amost all in that events, so if are not addicted on achievements and you want just to have fun Open Events are the best thing you can do
How to let other players in the lobby know you are not a cheater
Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a way to make other players not suspect of you at all?
Well, that's very simple, as I said above cheaters usually tend to show their best achievements, like rank 5 "World Racer", "Payday", "X-Class Champion" etc. , and honest players are supposed not to have those achievements as for example rank 5 World Racer (5000 Circuits/sprints) or Payday (25,000,000cash earned) are almost impossible to complete without cheating in less than 2 months...so, my idea is to show those badges instead of other achievements which don't tell anything about the driver, so that if other players for example see that you only played 250 multiplayer events, you only earned 5,000,000 cash, and you only won 5 - 25 races in some class restricted races they will not suspect that you are for example an autofinisher because in that case you would have much more class restricted victories and events played...on the other hand if you managed to achieve one or more rank 4-5 "X-Class Champion" achievements it is recommended not to show them because the first thing someone will think by looking at them is that you are probably a cheater.
So, in conclusion put your pride apart and don't hesitate to show your rank 1-2 "X-Class Champion", 1-2-3 "Payday", 1-2-3 "World Racer" achievements as they are a reliable proof of your honesty as a cheater would probably have those achievements at least at rank 4
